Featured students:
Hagop Ohanessian is a December 2009 graduate of Fresno State. He received his Minor in Armenian Studies-Honors and a BA in Business Administration-Real Estate. He plans to continue his education and will enter graduate school in the Fall.
Pateel Mekhitarian graduated in May 2010 with an Honors Minor in Armenian Studies and a Major in Chemistry. She plans to continue her education by entering pharmacy school in the Fall. |

was established in 1977 and the Center for
The Haig and Isabel Berberian Endowed Chair in Armenian Studies, established in the fall of 1988, is one of several Armenian Chairs in the United States and provides financial support for a distinguished Armenologist. The endowment honors Haig and Isabel Berberian and was established by their son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Arnold H. and Dianne Gazarian. Other friends of the Armenian Studies Program have made significant contributions to the endowment.

Gorky fled the Genocide and arrived in America in 1920, eventually becoming one of the most progressive and critically acclaimed painters in the United States. However, he avoided the topic of Genocide in his work, blocking it out of his psyche, reflecting Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Monday, September 20, 7:30PM"Trilogy-April 24, 1915: Before and After—The Lives of the Survivors"Dr. Rita KuyumjianIn her presentation, Dr. Kuyumjian will be speaking about her third publication, Trilogy-April 24, 1915, a three-volume work that is dedicated to the Armenian intellectuals who were arrested on April 24, 1915 and to the 95th Anniversary of the Genocide. The Trilogy is dedicated to the works and the lives of two Armenians, Aram Andonian and Teotig, both survivors of the April 24 arrests.
